Prepare for seasonal weather
Contrary to popular belief, there is no dome over any of the Disney properties. And no, there is nothing any Cast Member can do to change the weather for your magical trip. As such, the first thing you may need to tackle for your trip is the weather.

In the summer, sunscreen, a hat, a portable fan, and sunglasses are must have items for Disney. And if you plan to go on any water rides, be sure to bring shoe covers. Put those shoe covers on before getting on the ride to ensure that your sneakers and socks don’t get soaked. Plus they are useful for the random summer showers that Florida gets too.
In the winter, you’ll want to layer up to keep warm. A long sleeve under a Spirit Jersey. Fleece leggings under jeans. Thick socks in a comfortable pair of boots. You get the gist.

Planning your Disney outfit
Comfortable shoes are a must have for Disney
With all the walking you’re about to do, you need to start with your feet. Choose a pair of shoes that have great arch support. Stay away from wearing brand new shoes because you’ll just get blisters. And the only time you should be wearing flip flops or Crocs is if you are temporarily changing in to them for a water ride.

Non-fabric backpack
A backpack is a non-brainer must have item for Disney. But make it non-plush and non-fabric! Why? Because a water-resistant backpack keeps your valuables safe from rainy days or water rides. You never know when a spontaneous shower might add a refreshing twist to your day. Or if that waterfall is going to make you its next victim.
Loungefly’s are very popular for this exact reason! They are made with faux leather and great for rainy days, water rides, and Disney Bounds. My favorite Loungefly retailer is 707 Street.

And if you plan to wear mouse ears, be sure to grab a mouse ears backpack clip holder on Etsy. These are so useful! When you take your ears off for a ride or any other reason, use this holder to clip your ears to your backpack instead of stuffing them in your bag.
Poncho
Whether it’s random Florida rain, Anaheim spring showers, or your favorite water ride, this is a must have item for a Disney day. And better to get one before heading into the park because the ones sold in the park are very expensive.

Shoe covers
Nothing ruins a Disney day faster than soggy socks and shoes that never seem to dry out. Bring some shoe covers so that doesn’t happen. They’re essentially ponchos for your feet. Or if there is room in your backpack, pack flip flops and just change into them for the ride.

Must have tech for your Disney day
Portable charger
A day at Disney is no day for your phone to be dying. Especially because if you plan to maximize your time at Disney, your phone is essential. You’ll need it to access your tickets, book Lightning Lane passes, mobile order food and drinks, check wait times, and most importantly take pictures.

As such, you should absolutely bring a portable charger with you to the parks. And don’t forget the charging cord for it too!
But if you forget a portable charger for your trip, Disney does have Fuel Rod stations all throughout the park for you to buy a charger.

Mini Tripod
Want to capture that perfect castle selfie without asking strangers for help? Get a mini tripod! But please use these safely. Do not block busy walkways or place this on an unsteady ledge. Additionally make sure you do not purchase one that has an extender (aka selfie stick mode) as Disney security may confiscate it.
Disney Chase Rewards Card
If you have the Disney credit card with Chase, then you’ve probably racked up a decent amount of reward dollars to use on merchandise, food, or even tickets. Don’t forget to bring your loaded Rewards card with you to the parks because you won’t have any other way of using your reward dollars without it.

And if you don’t have the Disney credit card, you can apply for one here. This will help you save for your next Disney trip when you pay for all of the things you have to pay for as an adult.
Water and Snacks
Another misconception about Disney is that you aren’t allowed to bring outside food or drink.
Well that is false. You absolutely can bring outside food and drink into the park. And no, it doesn’t even have to be unopened.
So save a little money and bring your own water bottles and snacks in! My personal favorite water bottles are the ones from Corkcicle. They have tons of designs from Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars.
