Shopping for jeans is one of the most infuriating shopping days a woman experiences. You’re a size 10 in one brand. Shockingly a size 8 in another. And yet one thing remains universal. We all come out feeling frustrated. Because the fact is a woman’s body cannot be defined by a numerical size. So for our unique bodies, we need a unique pair of jeans. Something that is specific to you. And thankfully custom jeans are something we can invest in! So let’s review Neems Jeans to see if this brand is worth it.

The importance of custom jeans for women
During the course of one day, the adult body fluctuates in weight and shape based on diet and exercise. In fact your body can fluctuate up to 6 pounds over the course of 24 hours. This study from Cambridge dives into the many factors that affect waist circumference and why it can be an unreliable measurement.

For women this change might even be more prevalent based on where they are in their cycle.
More importantly there is a strong pull to custom fit jeans due to the inconsistency surrounding women’s sizing. Trying to keep up with what size you are depending on the brand is exhausting.
Where to get custom fit jeans
When you get custom tailored denim, you are getting the best fit for your specific body type. You won’t have to keep track of which size you are for a certain brand. You won’t have to worry if the store is or isn’t going to have your preferred inseam length.
All you really need to decide is where to get your custom denim from. Here are the top brands based on a simple Google search:
- MTailor – starting at $79
- Blue Delta – starting at $450
- Sene – starting at $195
- Neems Jeans – starting at $229
For the sake of this blog, I will be reviewing the brand, process, and quality of Neems Jeans.

About Neems Jeans
Too often we compromise one thing over another. Because we have all reluctantly come to terms with the fact that we can’t have it all with our jeans.
Neems Jeans sought to change that. To expect more from such a staple of your closet. And something we tend to spend a good amount of money on. So why not make sure they are perfect?
Neems Jeans was started in 2020 by co-founders, Dani and Andre. They work closely with their manufacturing team in Mexico to make sure the process is seamless and quality-made.
The process of getting your custom jeans

Neems has a slim catalog of custom women’s jeans, shorts, and skirts as well as custom men’s jeans.
For the jeans, you can choose between:
- skinny, straight, and bootcut
- one of six denim washes
- high-waisted, mid, or low rise
- full length, at the ankle, or cropped length
After making your customizations, you will add to cart and head to checkout. You will not input your measurements before purchasing.
Once your order is placed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to upload your custom measurements. You will do this through the Choozr app.
The app is simple to use and quickly gets your measurements using two photos. These photos are not stored or shared with anyone except the Neems team.
Once the two photos are taken, you also have the opportunity to edit the measurements. The Neems team also double checks to ensure measurement accuracy.
It took me three minutes to upload my measurements through Choozr. I submitted them on Sunday and got an email the next day saying that the Neems team had received them.
At this point in the process, my review of Neems is a positive one! Let’s move on to actually receiving my custom jeans.
Review of Neems custom made jeans
I am 5’8″ and one year postpartum. My current weight is still fluctuating because of that, and even as I did this review for Neems Jeans, I experienced just how much my body is still changing. We’ll go over how this affected my fit from the time I ordered to the time I received the jeans below.
I currently now ride between a size 8 and a size 10. This unfortunately seems to be dependent on which brand it is.
I decided to get a pair of skinny jeans, in black, with a mid-rise waist, and the length to my ankle. With me being 5’8″, it is always infuriating to try to get an in-seam that fits. That’s even more important (and obvious) when it comes to skinny jeans.
Not to mention, skinny jeans are a Millennial Closet Staple. Society may tell us to ditch them. But no. We are taking skinny jeans to our grave.
Additionally I wanted to get a pair of their skinny jeans because personally I think skinny jeans are the hardest pair of jeans to get right. Are they too tight? Does the fabric stretch enough? Do the seams twist towards the bottom of your legs?
So let’s dive into my review of the custom skinny jeans from Neems.
Communication of order
After placing the order, I received an additional email about downloading Choozr to upload my measurements. From there, I received more communications to let me know that:
- my measurements were received by their team,
- the process for making was underway,
- where it was in the process of making, sewing, washing,
- and most importantly when they were on their way.
All in all for this review, I believe Neems Jeans did a great job of letting me know what was going on.
From the time I ordered to when the jeans arrived to my door, it took just under 4 weeks.
Ease & trust of process
I’m leaving room for improvement here. At this point, you upload your measurements via a third-party app. I think as Neems grows, they should consider having something in-house for this process.
That all said, I still think it was fairly easy to use Choozr to upload and send my measurements.
Feel of the fabric
Since I believe a 5-star jean material feel is from MOTHER Denim, I can confidently give Neems Jeans a close second with 4 out 5 stars.
When I first opened the jeans, they were a little inflexible. This was expected. After the first wash, there was very minor fluffs on the pants as the fabric began to settle.
If you need instructions on how to wash and care for your Neems Jeans, I have left the washing instructions below.
I would say after about the third wash was when I noticed that the jeans felt lived in and comfortable.
Alteration policy for Neems Jeans
When it comes to expensive purchases, a good “insurance” policy can add a huge layer of confidence behind the purchase.
Neems Jeans will let you alter or re-tailor your jeans for free off of the initial fit. And because my body is still fluctuating postpartum, I needed to take advantage of this process.
When I first tried on my custom black skinny jeans, there was space in the back. Additionally after a few wears, I noticed that the right pant leg twisted inward. After about a week or so, I realized this was just something that needed to be altered.

To start the alteration process, I needed to
- resize myself using a tape measure
- take a few photos of me wearing the jeans from a few angles
- and fill out a form to tell them what I felt didn’t seem right.
With that they also sent a prepaid label. From the time that I dropped my jeans off at UPS to when they arrived back on my doorstep was 2 weeks.

Fit of my custom jeans from Neems
Even though the initial fit was not 5-stars, Neems’ one-of-a-kind alteration policy ensured that I was going to get the custom fit jeans of my dreams.
After I received my custom black skinny jeans back, I was very pleased with the updated fit.

They had:
- taken the waist in more
- moved the crotch up a little to reduce that popping sound jeans can make when you walk
- and fixed the leg twisting problem on the right leg.
Like I mentioned before, waist circumference can be such a fickle thing to get measured with how much body size fluctuates in one day. So the time that you review your measurements for your custom jeans from Neems, your body may be a different size and shape than when you try them on for the first time.
And this is even more prevalent in the fact that my body shape is still changing – even one-year postpartum. So I had strong peace of mind with Neems that even with my body shape still in flux, they were going to help ensure a proper fit.
Price of custom made jeans
Yes Neems is more expensive than some other custom jeans companies. But you’re not just paying for a pair of quality jeans.
You’re also paying for thoughtful communication, an incredible alteration policy, and a Lifetime Guarantee.

Does the re-tailoring have to take place before the jeans are worn and washed?
Nope, Neems encourages wearing them and washing your custom jeans before requesting an alteration since they do tend to mold to the body after a few wears and a wash.
Are alterations free for life?
A complimentary alteration is only available for the initial fit. That said, they separately offer a “Lifetime Guarantee” which allows customers to resize their jeans if their body changes anytime in the future, at cost (50% off).
How do I properly care for and wash my custom jeans from Neems?
It is recommended to wear your jeans 3-5 before each wash (even the first one). Before washing, turn your jeans inside out. Then use cold water to reduce shrinking and fading. After washing, hang them up to dry or dry on low heat with a gentle tumble cycle.
