Anyone who tells you that you need to be posting a certain amount per week found what worked for them. But in no way is there an exact number that you have to follow to find success on social media. The name of the game is consistency. But that consistency is what you decide. Sound confusing? Let’s break it down.
The Magic Number for Posting on Social Media
Let me repeat that so it sinks in. If someone says that you absolutely need to post 15 times per day on your Stories and once a day to your feed found that that system of posting works for THEIR page.

But the great thing about that is that it doesn’t need to be the same for you.
It’s true that you do need to post consistently. But there is no one definition of the word “consistent” in the social sphere. My tips for posting on social media would be to post to your Stories at least once a day, and post on your feed two to three times a week. It’s absolutely absurd that there are some people out there telling you to post 10 times a day on your Story, make 4 photo or carousel in-feed posts a week, and post 2 Reels a day. That is garbage advice and not feasible for someone who is running a page that can’t utilize batched content.

What is batched content?
Batched content can be one of two things. It can be:
- when you film all of your content for the week/month in a single day or two
- or it can be when you film something once but repurpose it
Batched content in a day
This batching is when you spend an entire day filming all of your content for a certain amount of time. Whether that be the content you post for the week or the month is up to you. Hence, you batch-filmed your content so that the rest of your week or month can be spent doing all the other number of things you need to do as a creator.
Batched content for repurposing
Batched content can also be content that you film once that can be used to create multiple videos. For example, if there is a video on your feed of someone sitting at their kitchen table, typing on their computer with text on-screen over their head, that is something they filmed once but that they just edit the on-screen text as they see fit. That base video of them just sitting and typing can then be used again in a month and you can change the on-screen copy to be literally anything else.
This style of content works well for people who offer advice of some sort. Whether that advice is for making content, how to invest, real estate tips, etc etc.

When does batched content not work when you post on social media?
Batched content doesn’t work well for someone who makes content about recipes, things to do in your hometown, trending styles or current sales, exclusive events, and things of that nature.
For those types of content, it takes a lot of time for you as a creator. It takes time to find this information, go there and film, and finally to edit. This won’t really allow you any time for yourself if you are constantly posting left and right. How can you possibly keep up?!
What time should I post on social media?
When or what time to post on social media is again up to you! Again, a lot of people will claim that certain times work better than others. And I agree to a point. For example, I tend not to post on Saturdays because Saturday tends to be people’s chore days or fun days. It’s the day that I found that more often than not people are not on their phones. At least for MY audience.

Now you may read articles from influencers or marketing agency platforms that give you an exact time. The most hilarious one I saw was one from Sprout Social. It said that the best time to post on social media is between a four hour range, per day. But then failed to mention what time zone that was. So wherever you live in the world, that time is going to vary wildly. Thus proving that there is no one correct time.
But the other reason why I never follow what people say in terms of the “best time to post” is similar to insider trading. Once that information is out there, everyone floods that time slot. Which then makes it the worst time to post because now that time slot is oversaturated with posts.
Simply put, try to think of the times that YOU are most likely on your phone. When you first wake up, in the middle of your work day when you’re bored, when you’re lounging on the couch at night, etc. You may be a marketer, but you’re also a human that follows similar habits.
Final thoughts on when how often and when to post on social media
Keep it consistent but don’t feel like you have to follow what people say about “the perfect posting schedule”. Little do you know is that you make the rules on your page. The algorithm is in part what you make it. And once you have a consistent-to-you kind of schedule, the algorithm will see that and adjust.
