My Initial Reaction

First and foremost, the packaging is so cool. The metallic blue box of the Indonesian Patchouli scent is beautiful. Not to mention, it makes the orange pods really POP.

Secondly, if Laundry Sauce is going to claim that their detergent should be able to replace someone wearing perfume or cologne, then that means that it will be a noticeable scent.

So the fact that when I took the box out of the cardboard box that it was mailed in I could instantly smell the faint scent of the fragrance was a very good sign for this review of Laundry Sauce’s product.

The pods were packaged cautiously with a padded cushion inside the box protecting the pods from moving around too much during transit.

The pods themselves are lightweight and delicate. Having used detergent pods from other brands in the past, these pods seemed more fragile.

Our Trial Run + Laundry Sauce Review

The scent

Once I actually opened up the box itself, the fragrance really became noticeable. And it was delectable! The Indonesian Patchouli is more of a guy smell though. But it really does smell like a luxury cologne.

Personally, I know nothing of scents even if you explain it to me. So when I chose Indonesian Patchouli, I picked it purely off of the tropical vibes.

I did find it nice that Laundry Sauce included a card with an explanation of the scent profile. I still don’t know what it means, but for someone who may be more involved with identifying smells then I’m sure this is helpful!

After the wash cycle was complete, the fragrance was still noticeable upon opening the machine door. To verify, I did a sniff test and it did linger on the clothes itself – not just the drum.

There were a few pieces of clothing that I let air dry and the rest of the load went into the dryer on low heat for 45 minutes. Both the air dried clothing and machine dried clothing held on to the fragrance.

Although the overall scent is important to this Laundry Sauce review, at the end of the day it is a detergent. So how does this laundry detergent truly stack up to a more household brand name like Gain or OxiClean? Can it still clean your clothes just as well?

The cleaning power

Since I have a newborn, my husband’s and my shirts have been getting a decent amount of spit up on them. After our load was done, there were no spit up stains on our clothing.

Additionally we are in the hot season here in Southern California. So sweat stains and stink is definitely something our laundry is dealing with now.

Doing another sniff test on the armpit area of our clothing confirms that Laundry Sauce‘s luxury laundry detergent is not only the best smelling detergent, but also effective in cleaning our clothes as well as any other more popular household brand.

So this Laundry Sauce review is looking pretty positive!

The only time I would not recommend using Laundry Sauce’s detergent pods is on baby products. Baby’s skin is very sensitive so it is not recommended to wash their clothing or even cloth diapers with anything other than an unscented product as it could cause an allergic reaction.

The price

The price is the only downside of Laundry Sauce’s products. But if you want a luxury item, you have to pay a luxury price, right?

With their detergent pod boxes ranging in quantity from 30 to 69 pods, each pod will cost you $1.00. When trying to maintain a household budget, this could present an issue. Especially if you’re rolling the dice on actually liking the fragrance that you pick.

Personally I love that they have these Laundry Sauce sample products and packs. Especially by identifying the more masculine versus feminine scents. Because again I have no idea what different fragrance profiles mean! Explaining a smell means absolutely nothing to me.

Laundry Sauce Review Final Thoughts

Overall, I do think Laundry Sauce’s claim as the best smelling laundry detergent formula holds up. Their luxury scent clings to your clothing and supports an appealing, all-day fragrance without being over-powering.

This is especially beneficial for me since I have not found a single perfume that has held up to an all-day wear. Yet my husband’s cologne clings to him no problem. So having a fragrant laundry detergent is a great work around to this problem for women who have the same problem.

So I fully believe that Laundry Sauce’s detergent fragrance could replace your daily cologne or perfume. I would be very interested in smelling more from them with one of their sample packs!
