Rainy days are only fun if you are properly prepared. Especially at a Disney park. If you aren’t dressed for stormy weather, a rainy day at Disney can be miserable. And for the amount that you spent on tickets to get in, a little water should not be ruining your day! That’s why it’s essential to know what to wear for a rainy day at Disney. For whatever Disney park you go to.
1. A clear, bubble umbrella

This is by far THE BEST decision you will ever make. At least when it comes to rainy days at Disney. I got my clear, bubble umbrella in-store from Marshall’s for $10, but the brand is Totes. You can also get it or one like it on Amazon.
The reason that this umbrella will be your best friend is that it’s see through. No shit, right? For how gorgeous the Disney parks are, you’ll want to be looking around. Having a solid colored umbrella won’t allow you that opportunity. Not to mention, you can more easily maneuver around people since you can see through it. Also for someone like me who wears glasses, this is perfect. I can put myself in the little bubble and as soon as I move into the indoor parts of the ride’s line, my glasses are clear of raindrops.
Gone are the days of having the wind pick up and your umbrella bending against the wind. Gone are the days of the rain moving sideways and circumventing your umbrella’s defenses. This bubble umbrella will keep you dry from the top of your head to your chest area. I was even complimented a few times on my technique for using it! Holding it so my head was touching the top of the inside of it was the most dry I have ever been in the rain. I created a perfect bubble cocoon of dryness.
2. A proper pair of boots

The reason this says “proper pair” instead of “rain boots” is because for a Disney park, rain boots may not be best option. Rain boots make the most amount of sense for a rainy day. But at least in my experience, rain boots aren’t comfortable. Especially for all the walking you will be doing for a day wandering around the Park.
So instead I suggest a pair of boots that will be able to be worn for more than just the rain. My personal pick are these platform boots. Again, I got them in-store at Marshall’s for $20, but they are available on Amazon. They’re fashionable, they work well with most outfits for rainy weather, and they did an amazing job keeping my feet dry and happy for a stormy Disney day. The platform sole also is great to keep you above the puddles. I even stepped in a pretty big puddle that I didn’t see and I thought “for sure this is going to be when my socks get wet”. But spoiler alert – they never did! This boot comes in so many different colors that there is something for everyone. I may even get myself another pair!
And once the rain starts pouring, there are trip and slip hazards. You need to do your best to avoid them with good boots! But if you don’t quite manage and you find yourself taking a tumble or getting into an accident, personal injury lawyers will be happy to help.
3. A mini Loungefly backpack or something similar

The biggest mistake made when figuring out what to wear on a rainy day is the wrong kind of bag. Anything that is a fabric should never be considered. Not only will your backpack be a soggy heap, but so will everything inside. I highly recommend getting yourself a mini Loungefly backpack or something similar. A PU leather backpack is a great alternative. It’s is faux leather, less expensive than a Loungefly, and can be used more frequently outside of Disney.
707 Street offers a wide range of these kinds of Loungefly backpacks. They also have a lot of exclusive Loungeflys that. you can’t get anywhere else! I recommend browsing Nordstrom Rack to browse a good range of PU backpacks. For the exclusive Crush Loungefly from the picture above, click here. 4. A long rain jacket

Your handy, clear umbrella is going to do a great job, trust me. But you’ll still need some proper coverage. Disney has a good selection of fun rain jackets. However, they aren’t long enough to help keep your pants dry enough. Not only that, but a long jacket ensures that your booty stays dry when sitting down on a ride. Lots of rides are outdoors and probably getting wet in the process. Don’t get caught sitting in a puddle.
Again, I recommend browsing the selection on Nordstrom Rack. Not only is Nordstrom Rack great quality, but you also get a fantastic price. For the light blue rain jacket from the picture above, click here.
5. Layers, layers, layers
Layers are essential to keep warm. Unless of course you are figuring out what to wear to Walt Disney World in the summer during hurricane season. In which case, this section does not apply to you. A long sleeve under a classic Spirit Jersey will keep you warm AND in the Disney spirit. And for those extra cold winter days, a pair of leggings under your jeans will also help you out. This section doesn’t require too much additional thought. Your closet should currently suffice to layer up for a cold rainy day at Disney!
